Jessica Lawrence

Dr. Lawrence joined the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 as an Associate Professor of Veterinary Radiation Oncology. She regularly collaborates with colleagues in the Department of Radiation Oncology, and subsequently joined the 3D Printing and Imaging Lab in 2017. She is a clinical researcher with a strong interest in comparative oncology, which aims to better understand the pathobiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of human and animal cancer. Dr. Lawrence is particularly interested in finding new ways to improve radiation killing of cancer cells while limiting radiation-induced injury to nearby normal tissue that may result in treatment-related complications, such as acute radiation inflammation and organ fibrosis. Prior to joining the College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Lawrence spent 3 years as an Assistant Professor of Medical Oncology  at the University of Georgia and 3.5 years as the Head of Oncology at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh.
